Bihar is one of the major state in eastern India. There are many villages in Bihar, one of them is name Sakhwar. A majority of the state’s total population lives in the villages. The villages of Bihar present a diverse social and cultural scenario. There is a social, religious and political harmony found among the villagers. The villagers celebrate all types of festivals together, irrespective of their religions and castes.
Our village (Sakhwar) is situated in District Darbhanga, northern part of Bihar (India). Its name is Sakhwar. It is around 35 km from Darbhanga. Sarisab Pahi or Ayachi Nagar, Khadak, Lohna Road, Barham Pura, Manigachhi, Tatuwar, Bisoul these are some name of the villages whish is closest to village Sakhwar. Indian Rail (North-East) and National Highway-57 connect it (Sakhwar) to all over country. About our village, though it is not associated with any historical event; however it is unique in many ways. It is important for me because lots of memories are associated with our village.
Our village (Sakhwar) life is a mixture of tranquility, serenity, quietude and innocence. Along with numerous small and big grass fields, several rivers, chirping of birds, swinging of emerald trees, speaking in a low voice the tale of languishment and love to the big and clear blue sky give a mesmerizing, captivating and bewitching effect.
A majority of the persons living in Sakhwar have involved themselves in agriculture and associated industries. Most of the lands are owned by the upper cast, approximately about 70%. It is difficult for them to manage all the lands. Therefore they take the help of people from lower caste. There are several resources of earning for the people of Sakhwar , to join any government or privet sector, business, teaching as profession and other is agriculture.The lifestyle maintained by the people of “Sakhwar” as well as their working styles are as fascinating as the balance offered by the metropolitan city lifestyles. All castes are regarded as similar to each other. The villagers of “Sakhwar” are normally habituated in sharing and using the common facilities of the village including the village shrines and temples, the village pond, schools, grazing grounds, sitting places, etc.
